There was a time you never left the house without me. Together we did everything. I never expected that to change. Tell me old friend, what happened? Slowly, over time, you left me behind. The days we could spend together became special moments. Until they were no more and the memories were all we have. Yet, the love between us was not gone.
Now, once more, time is in our favour. I wait patiently for you to come to me with a smile lighting up your face. The pain that came between us is slowly fading with your every healing day. I look forward to when, again, I feel the tug of determination on my pull straps; and once again, we leave the house together. I’ve missed you old friend.
With the medical availability in this era, having a hip replacement, for the most part, is not that big of a deal. The operation went well. Recovery continues to go well. But there have been a few things I have had to forgo for several years since the bone on bone made my daily regime take a major change.
