The Writing Spark: March

Welcome to The Writing Spark. A monthly prompt designed to welcome and inspire creativity, encourage practice, and connect writers of all experience levels.

Have fun and let the prompt take your mind to where it wants to go.

Date: March 17, 2026

Prompt: 

• Focus on any one of: an object, a location, an animal, a bird, etc.

• Set a timer for 3 (three) minutes

• Write from the perspective of what your focus item is seeing or doing

No editing, just write

• At the end of the 3 minutes take at least a 10 minute break away where you wrote the words

• Think about what you wrote – not to make corrections, the story that evolved 

After 10 minutes, downsize the three minutes of writing into 37 words

• Use a format that is comfortable – i.e. story, poetry, report, humorous, sad, sassy – your choice

• Remember, end result must continue to be in perspective of the focus item

POV: Any. It must be from the perspective of the focus object
